I do ethics in this semester. Quite
Today we went through a case of laying off the staff. Firing of 400 people, is it ethical to carry out? We had to respond to this question by paying attention to ethical criteria of reciprocity, universalization (impartiality), human rights.
Then the example was extended. The company has received an offer to deliver equipment, which might be used to produce nuclear weapons to some countries
Frankly speaking, I am a bit cautious to theoretical solutions of problems. Because you never know what people in a particular situation would do. You can barely know yourself. All moral programms that were installed in you before may be easily broken down facing fear. Or greed. Back to my term paper: Who is guided by human love and moral principles while building a nuclear reactor plant? The waste of it could easily worsen the genes of the suburb population for generations. Was the Soviet government ethical to conduct atomic experiments almost in all parts of Kazakstan? It is by the way one of the most radiation polluted countries worldwide.
I continue realising that I am becoming very down to the earth.
